Expansion Packs For Sims 3
Jan 28, 2011 - There's also a bundle deal offering the Sims 3 and all five expansions for half price. I'm off to build my sims a glorious mansion, and then delete.
What is the best Expansion Pack or Stuff Pack? What is the worst? That is what I am posting right here.
EXPANSION PACKS Edit
Oh My God Awesome Tier Edit
1. Seasons -- It provides weather and holidays, not to mention activities in that weather, new skills, and aliens. It provides new stuff no matter how you play your game.
2. Late Night -- The new city, Bridgeport, was fresh and living in it was fun. Plus the new instruments, bands, fun career, ability to be a celeb, bars, clubs lounges and wow this game could easily take spot!
3. University Life -- Your Sims can go to university, become a jock, nerd or rebel, choose from 3 new career paths, play juice pong, read comics or throw protests! Pretty awesome EP.
I Would Buy It If I Were You Tier Edit
4. Generations -- Adds a lot more to help kids be kids and teens to be rebellious, fleshes out Sims' lives, has many new party types, walking sticks for elders, not a waste of money.
5. Ambitions -- Fairly decent new town, great new careers, new skills, the only decent tattoos until TS4, a well-rounded buy that is my standard term of 'Expansion Pack'.
6. Island Paradise -- I got to recreate Hawaii in my Sims game, owned a resort, a houseboat, became a lifeguard, lived on numerous islands, and scuba-dived. The last EP before we descend into the 'Crappy Zone'.
Waste Of Money Tier Edit
7. Pets -- I'm going to get a lot of hate mail for putting this in the 'Crappy Zone', but I cannot tell a lie. I love my canine companions in real life, but here it was just bad. It was fun for the first few days, seeing what they could do and testing pets out, but after 2 weeks I got a bit bored. After a month I used pets 4 times again. Town was fine though.
8. World Adventures -- TS3's first EP, World Adventures was just bland. I sort of liked the new destinations and really liked Martial Arts, but it's thinness of content and stupid Egyptian puzzles killed it.
9. Into The Future -- I loved it the first few days but it soon became dull. I saw all its tricks, my interest was over. All that was left I wasn't bored of after 3 weeks was Descendants and Plumbots, and that doesn't make an expansion.
Burn Every Copy In The World For The Good Of Humanity Tier Edit
10. Supernatural -- I can already feel the hate mail being sent, but it is my duty to say Supernatural sucks. I turned my dad into a werewolf, myself and my sister into vampires and my mother into a witch. 10 days later - The fun was over, but I still used gothic furniture.
11. Showtime -- No, I do not have a problem with Katy Perry! Not my favorite artist, but her being on the cover doesn't ruin the game. What's inside does. Starlight Shores was a rip-off of Bridgeport and a bad one, and the new careers weren't fun or interesting. The genies were just sort of there, and SimPort was a mess. Online interactions were included in a free patch, and I kept it installed only because of the male clothing.
STUFF PACKS Edit
I Would Buy It If I Were You Tier Edit
1. High-End Loft -- The first and best stuff pack, it provided new tech and sleek, modern furniture, a few outfits and a hairstyle I used on my mom forever after.
2. Fast Lane -- I liked the new cars and I used some of the garage-themed content often. I used the new trait fairly often, but it got patched in for free as well.
3. 70s, 80s and 90s -- Some nice hairstyles and outfits from three awesome/weird decades that worked well for a hippie Sim I was creating, as well as a bit of decent furniture.
I Would Not Buy It If I Were You Tier Edit
4. Outdoor Living -- I like to play the Sims with them outside, having fun, swimming and doing unnecessary stuff I still make them do.
5. Diesel -- This would have been a great stuff pack if a lot of the clothing wasn't so weird. It can be paired with Late Night for a pretty hip experience.
6. Master Suite -- If I made a Sim I wanted to look rich or wanted an already rich Sim to look even richer, I went here. Not great, but I used it.
Destroy Every Copy In The World For The Good Of Humanity Tier Edit
7. Town Life -- I liked the public lots, some of the clothing and hairstyles I used on Sims, and it was a very basic, unnecessary pack.
8. Movie -- One word. Stupid. Two words. Very stupid. Three words. Very damn stupid. I kept it installed so I could keep the directors chair and make Sims look stupid.
9. Sweet Treats -- Sweet Hell. It's all pink and bubbly and candy and insert swear word here..________________________________________________________________________________________That's my list! As for me..
Expansion Packs Edit
Win Tier Edit
- Supernatural: Elixirs forever. Expansion of crafting is always good, and Supernatural has plenty of that. Expansion of interactions and utility is also fun, and Witches and fairies make for huge amount of win, in addition to allowing for CAS supernaturals. Only complaint I have is that one can't turn off the wings, and the random zombies that threaten good plants. There are also slight potential for balance breaking, since Tiberium becomes extra overpowered with the gem cutter. But still it is my favorite pack in overall.
- Ambitions: Simbots. Enuff said. My meat with Ambition is the lost potential on the Invention skill (which I liked the most). Rather thin (miners and time machines do rock, however) and could have been beefed up a lot more to provide more mundane utility. Sculpting is also good but as with Ambition's skillset, thin.
- University Life: We has university, science skills, and a slew of new gadgets like the brain scanners. Also herbs.
Great Tier Edit
- Into the Future: Plumbots alone is the bomb and I personally like them more than Simbots. However, most of the other things are rather difficult to take advantage of, such as the utopian RAINBOWWWZZZZAAAHHHH which are awesome but rather annoying due to the blasted walk animation. However, this is pretty much Win tier, plenty of minor yet good interactions here and there such as the sprites.
- Late Night: I may hate the celebrity system with a passion due to the forced snootiness that makes me apecrap insane, but suffice to say that it adds a huge bit to the gameplay. My playstyle doesn't favor LN as much as the others, but the pack is good, since it was the expansion that introduced the breast slider and the zodiac (which eventually was added to the base game itself).
- World Adventures: All glory to Nectar Making. Martial Arts could have been better, but the skill still makes for great eye-candy and source of raw materials, particularly for Simbots.
OK Tier Edit
- Seasons: Can't say I liked it too much: Snow was great, but it gets annoying when it builds into the game lag (and I have an i5) which becomes more irritating than welcome. The festival grounds offer bite-size fun such as the easter egg hunt, but nothing too big that I could go without. Heck, the forced Alien eyes on Alien hybrid is the one thing that made me give up on making my sims hybrids. However, the Alien eyes CAS slider on the other hand is great, especially if you are into the more big eye aesthetics a la manga. Basically, it wasn't great because it doesn't have the big, juicy interactive stuff that I like, but then it has other redeeming factors to make it not stink. Also, hibernation that screws with harvest.
- Generations: They add a little bit to the non-adult stages. The only problem is that my gameplay centers on unaging adults. Ironically, this is the expansion that allowed for the unaging adults without turning aging off. Motive Mobile is also good, if it weren't for its slow speed. It is sad that one has to have children to get to the imaginary friend, either by adoption or.. heresy. Potions are also rather lackluster especially in light of elixirs.
- Island Paradise: The biggest problem is that all the features are concentrated on the neighborhood. Unless you're willing to invest time to make a world yourself, it's difficult to enjoy all the contents in another neighborhood.
Bleh Tier Edit
Expansion Packs For Sims 3 Pc
- Pets: To the inferno with the routing problems that pets spawn. Also, down with those random raccoons and especially those BLASTED DEERS which will eat your crops. Horses and Unicorns are ok, but it's difficult to justify the routing problems and those rage-inducing dog holes, which doesn't help my disdain for dogs and cats.
- Showtime: Showtime lacks much of the crafting and interaction things that I look for in an expansion pack. Nonetheless, the decorations are good, and genies add some redeeming value to the pack. But that's about it.

My Favourite Sims 2 Expansion Packs Edit
I am very unfamiliar with this forum, in fact I'm completely new to it. So please no negative responses.
Best Expansion Pack Edit
The best expansion pack would have to be Nightlife, cause it's got cars, bowling alleys, downtown, etc. Also there's a lot of additional clothes and hairstyles.

Second Best Expansion Pack Edit
Definitely the best expansion pack after Nightlife would be Apartment Life, because you no longer have to take a taxi to travel to community lots. And because you get witches and apartments. While there aren't really a lot of additional hairstyles that my Sims benefit from, there are a lot of additional clothes.

Third Best Expansion Pack Edit
Open for Business because you can start businesses, although the main reason I like it is the additional clothes, hairstyles and items.
P.S. I'd have to say University would be my fourth favourite, even though I'm not terribly keen on the concept of my Sims going to college instead of having careers. -- C.Syde (talkcontribs) 07:06, January 1, 2015 (UTC)
I may as well post what I think of the expansion packs although given I don't have all of them and haven't played in ages this might not be the best but let's give it a shot!
- World Adventures - I don't mind World Adventures. The tombs were fun to do the first time and the worlds all look fairly nice, however that's all I can really think of. Its a good way to get some money at the very least. My main gripe lies with how I've had glitches with the quest board thing for something like 4 years across two different computers.
- Ambitions - Twinbrook is a nice neighborhood but I feel Open for Business did this gimmick better. Professions are a good addition and I can't think of any glaring faults this one has.
- Late Night - I guess I like the vampires? It ends about there because Bridgeport is utter garbage as a neighborhood and is barely playable without editing it or modding the game, whichever you prefer. I've still got memories of sims trapped for ages inside one of the glitchy nightclub elevators. Also added stuff like the somewhat annoying fame system which you couldn't disable until two EP's later, and I believe it also added numerous things like all the generic cars spawning in parking spots and ghosts driving away from the cemetary.
- Pets - Lazy job, the pet models look very similar to those from TS2 and I'm pretty sure they even recycled some animations. Compared to your sims the pets don't feel as alive. I can't remember anything else that was added but I don't think the neighborhood was that bad, but it wasn't outstanding.
- Showtime - I've only played this once or twice so I can't really write that much but I can't remember any glaring flaws. It could probably have been easily merged into Late Night or vice versa which is my main issue though.
- Supernatural - My favourite EP by far. I've said many times in many different places that my favourite sims game is Makin' Magic and I'm happy there's an actual magic themed EP, I've always liked the idea of using magic in games in general. Moonlight Falls looks beautiful to boot and really gets across the vibe they were going for in my opinion at least.
